A kitchen island can be applied in almost any kitchen style. We often see kitchen islands in modern kitchens, but this kitchen also provides an open and practical layout in other kitchen styles. However, not every kitchen is suitable for an (cooking) island. To place a kitchen in this layout in your living space, you need to have enough room. There must be sufficient movement space within this kitchen. Therefore, make sure you have a walking space of at least 100 to 120 centimeters around the island.

Kitchen islands can be created in the form of a cooking island, sink island, or peninsula. Do you like having contact with those sitting at the island while you cook? Then choose a cooking island where the cooktop is on the island. However, it is important to consider the extractor.
The most common variant is the sink island. Here, the island only contains the sink. The advantage of this is that you don't have to consider an extractor hood hanging in sight. Is the space just too small for an island in your kitchen? Then go for a peninsula. The island is attached on one side to the rest of the kitchen or the wall, saving you space.
