Privacy and Cookie Statement Eigenhuis B.V. (version 2019-1)
The content of this page was last modified on: July 5, 2023.
Eigenhuis B.V.¹ highly values the protection of your privacy.
We carefully protect your data against loss, misuse, or other unauthorized use. We apply the applicable laws and regulations regarding your privacy, including the General Data Protection Regulation. In this statement, we explain how we handle your personal data and how we apply the law.
The purpose of this statement is to be transparent about the processing that Eigenhuis B.V. undertakes with personal data outside its own organization.
This statement may change over time, for example, if the law changes or if we add or discontinue certain processing. The most recent version is always published on our websites (www.gennu.nl, www.eigenhuiskeukens.nl en www.satink-zwolle.nl), and we recommend that you consult it regularly.
If you have any questions about this statement or our processing of your data, you can contact our privacy officer via the email address [email protected].
The processing by Eigenhuis B.V. is carried out exclusively in connection with its activities: designing, delivering, and installing kitchens, supplying kitchen appliances, and making homes fully ready for living.
This purpose can be subdivided into several sub-purposes. In this paragraph 1, we explain which (categories of) personal data we process for which of those sub-purposes. To process personal data, there must also be a legal basis. We also state this in this paragraph 1.
1.1 Delivery of our products and services
When you, as a private individual, have shown interest in one of our products or services and then proceed to purchase it, we need to collect certain data from you. This can happen through our showrooms, but we can also obtain your data from the company building or renting out a house to you. When we have delivered your kitchen, we also use this data to provide service.
The categories of personal data we process from you for this sub-purpose include your name, address, and contact details (email address, phone number), bank account number, phone calls (for training purposes), and the like.
We store your data for this purpose in our own information system and in an online portal that the parties we collaborate with to fulfill our agreement with you have access to (see also section 4: 'Recipients of personal data').
If we enter into an agreement with you, the legal basis for the mentioned processing is that this processing is necessary for the execution of an agreement to which you are a party, or to take measures at your request before entering into an agreement (for example, designing a kitchen in the showroom). If we enter into an agreement with a third party based on which we install a kitchen in your home (such as a landlord), the basis is 'necessary for the protection of our legitimate interest' (that interest being the execution of our and your agreement with that third party).
1.2 Business operations
When you are our contact person for one of the organizations we collaborate with (such as contractors, housing associations, clients, project developers, installation, and assembly companies, transporters), we process your name, position, and business contact details (email address, phone number) to maintain contact with you about our projects and individual deliveries.
We store your data for this purpose in our own information system and (if necessary) in an online portal that the parties we collaborate with to fulfill our agreement with customers have access to (see also section 4: 'Recipients of personal data').
The legal basis for this processing is that it is necessary for the protection of our legitimate interest. This interest is the proper execution of our business activities.
1.3 Marketing of our products
We bring our products to the attention of our target groups in various ways, namely:
a) When you visit our website(s), you can fill out a form to request information about our products or to make an appointment in one of our showrooms. For this, we ask you to provide your name, phone number, and email address. Your data is stored in our own information system.
b) You can also design a kitchen through our website using the 'KitchenCreator' program. When you have designed a kitchen in this program and want to save it, you can do so by creating an account. We ask you to provide your first name, last name, email address, and a password. Your data is temporarily stored by the program creator and passed on to us. We invite you to visit one of our showrooms based on creating this account.
c) If you have purchased a product from us or subscribed to our newsletter, we will periodically inform you by email about (promotions for) our products.
d) Cookies from social media platforms are installed on our website. You can read more about this under section 2: 'Cookies'.
The basis for the processing under a), b), c) (if you are not an existing customer), and d) is consent. You give us this consent when you provide us with your data to receive information, create an account in KitchenCreator, subscribe to our newsletter, or 'like' or 'follow' our page on social media platforms. If you are an existing customer, the basis is 'necessary for the protection of our legitimate interest', namely maintaining a relationship with our customers. You can withdraw your consent at any time by unsubscribing from our mailings, deleting your account in KitchenCreator, or no longer 'liking' or 'following' us on social media platforms.
Cookies are small files that are installed on your computer, mobile phone, or tablet via your internet browser. We use 'first-party' and 'third-party' cookies. 'First-party' cookies are cookies that we place ourselves, while 'third-party' cookies are cookies installed and read by third parties through our website.
Cookies can further be distinguished into non-commercial cookies and commercial cookies.
Non-commercial cookies
The non-commercial cookies we install are 'technical' and 'functional' cookies. These cookies are necessary for the proper functioning of our website (for example, to process data, log in, or view content). The installation and reading of these cookies are not considered processing of personal data. We also place 'analytical cookies'. We use these solely to obtain information about the quality and/or effectiveness of our website. These cookies are set in a privacy-friendly manner and are therefore not considered cookies that process personal data.
Commercial cookies
If cookies are installed and read for commercial purposes (such as tracking a person's online behavior), they are deemed to collect personal data (such as an IP address or information about online behavior). The commercial cookies we place are 'social media plugin cookies'. The social media plugin cookies (Facebook, LinkedIn) we place allow users of those social media platforms to 'like' or 'follow' our page on that social media platform and share it with their contacts within that platform.
To keep the information in this privacy and cookie statement concise and to ensure that the information about the use of social media plugin cookies published here does not become outdated, we prefer to inform you about these cookies by referring to the cookie statements of those social media platforms:

Our stores (see: Kitchen showrooms Eigenhuis Keukens and Showroom Satink Keukens) are jointly responsible with Eigenhuis B.V. for the processing carried out in the context of selling kitchens to consumers and kitchen appliances.
The information in this privacy and cookie statement is also provided on behalf of these stores. If you want to submit a request for specific information or to exercise your rights as mentioned under section 6 to a branch, you can contact our privacy officer as mentioned above.
The personal data we process from you in the context of delivering our products and services is only shared with third parties to the extent necessary for that delivery. Think of transport, assembly, and installation companies, and the party that builds or rents your home.
The personal data we process from you as a contact person of our business relations is only shared with third parties to the extent necessary for our business operations. Think of other business relations involved in the same project who need to maintain contact with you, or business service providers (such as an accountant, bank, or lawyer).
The personal data we use for marketing purposes is not shared with third parties (with the exception of social media platforms when you 'like' or 'follow' us on such a platform. The social media platform itself is responsible for its further processing of your data, and for information about the protection of your data, we refer you to the privacy statement of that social media platform.
Internally, your personal data is only used by employees to the extent necessary to achieve the goals described under section 1. This limited access to your personal data is ensured through access rights and the security of access to our information system.
Finally, all categories of personal data we process are shared with so-called processors. These are our IT suppliers to whom we have outsourced the execution of the processing for which we are responsible. Examples include suppliers of external software (for email marketing, telecommunication services, kitchen design) and hosting services (for websites). Processors have a legal obligation to adhere to the instructions of their clients, to keep personal data strictly confidential, and to guarantee appropriate security measures. We have concluded a data processing agreement with our processors to ensure this. Our processors only have access to the personal data they process if it is necessary for their service, for example, in the event of an (impending) data breach.
All personal data processed under our responsibility is stored on servers located within the territory of the European Union.
We do not retain the personal data mentioned under section 1 longer than necessary for the purpose mentioned there, unless we are required to retain it longer to comply with legal retention obligations.
We take the following aspects into account: the duration of the agreement between us and you, statutory retention periods, limitation periods for filing legal claims, the average lifespan of our products, the need to store data for future use (where possible, anonymized). This concretely means the following.
If we have processed your personal data for the delivery of a product or service (even if your order was canceled at some point), we retain this data for a period of seven years after the end of the fiscal year in which the delivery (or cancellation) took place to comply with our legal retention obligation under tax legislation. To provide service and interest you in a new purchase after the lifespan of our product, we retain your personal data for ten years after delivery. If you do not respond to our invitation after we have approached you, we will permanently destroy your personal data.
If we have processed your personal data for our business operations, we retain this data for a period of seven years after the end of our fiscal year to comply with our legal retention obligation under tax legislation.
If we have received your personal data from our partners or from you as a result of your request via our website to send you information or to make an appointment in the showroom and there is no follow-up contact after this communication, or you indicate that you are no longer interested in our products or services, we will retain your data for a maximum of three months.
If you have used 'KeukenCreator' on our website and created an account, we process your personal data. We process your data to invite you to our showroom. If you do not respond to our invitation after we have contacted you, we will retain your personal data for a maximum of three months.
If you have designed a kitchen with us in the showroom and you do not proceed to a follow-up conversation or purchase within a period of three months, or you indicate during this period that you are no longer interested in a follow-up conversation or purchase, we will retain your data for a maximum of three months from that moment.
If you have subscribed to our newsletter or 'liked' or 'followed' us on a social media platform, we will retain your data until you use the option to unsubscribe or stop 'liking' or 'following' us on a social media platform by changing your settings.
If a legal dispute arises between us and you or your organization during a retention period, we will retain your personal data until that dispute is resolved. After one of the aforementioned retention periods has elapsed, we will definitively destroy or anonymize your personal data.
The law grants you certain rights regarding the processing of your personal data. These are: the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and data portability. We will briefly explain these to you.
Right of access
The right of access means that we must inform you, upon your request, which personal data we process about you.
Right of rectification
The right of rectification means that if the personal data we process about you is incorrect, we must correct it at your request.
Right of erasure
The right of erasure means that you can request us to delete your data, among other things, if you object to the processing (see below) and we do not have 'compelling grounds' to continue processing it.
We may then, with some exceptions, only store the personal data without your consent until it is clear whether your standpoint is justified. This also applies to the processors we must inform.
Right of objection The right of objection means that you can oppose the processing we perform based on our legitimate interest. We will then cease the relevant processing unless we have 'compelling grounds' not to do so. To the extent that you have given consent for a processing activity (for example, receiving a newsletter), you can object by using the opt-out option.
Right of data portability The right of data portability means that you can request us to make the personal data (which you have provided to us) available to you so that you can process it elsewhere.
You can direct requests to exercise the aforementioned rights to us by sending an email [email protected].
We will respond to your request within a maximum of one month. We will inform you of any consequences of complying with your request. If we believe we have good reasons to refuse your request (in part), we will inform you of those reasons in our response. A reason might be, for example, that by fulfilling your request, we can no longer exercise our rights.
Finally, we inform you that if you believe our processing of your personal data is in violation of the law, we would like to hear from you. We will then try to find a solution to address your objections. If we cannot resolve it, you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (see the website https://autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).
